This is good news, this is the gospel!
We are once dead in sin- helpless, depraved…
Yet God comes and intrudes our personal “religious” or “rebellious” lives and causes us to see our need of a Savior’s love, acceptance and an inside-out transformation.
We thought we can make it through our good works, then He tells us how our “best” are nothing like filthy rags. We thought we can never be accepted because of how sinful and failed we were yet He comes in and leads to the Truth. He come and clothes us with His righteousness!
Because of His perfect righteous life, His substitutionary death and resurrected life-His victory on the cross we now can stand victorious by over sin, our pride and self-sufficiencies! All these is by God’s radical grace!
I was talking with a college friend earlier who once asked “why don’t God just come again and preach the gospel so that all men who would hear believe and be saved?” He told me how he wrestled with God for days, weeks, even months and he got an answer. He realized how God already did.
Throughout the days of Moses, the Prophets and ultimately through Jesus, He has been proclaiming it this good news loud and clear! Proverbs 8 tells us:
1 Does not wisdom call out?
Does not understanding raise her voice?
2 At the highest point along
the way,
where the paths meet, she takes her stand;
3 beside the gate leading into the city,
at the entrance, she cries aloud:
4 “To you, O people, I call out;
I raise my voice to all mankind.
Even until today, God calls out people from darkness to his light through faith alone in Christ Jesus through the faithful preaching of the scriptures. My friend then realized that God has to open a person’s eyes and truly see how flawed and sinful he is and yet at the same time how loved and accepted He is! God has to cause us to taste and see that God indeed is good! This is grace amazing! This grace is radical!
Yet it takes an encounter with God. It takes God’s Intrusion. This is God’s Special Grace, Saving Grace if you may call it. It’s one thing to know God is love. It’s another thing to truly experience it. It’s one thing to merely believe Jesus gives life. It’s another thing to truly live life that’s new in Him!
This is radical grace! This is something we never worked for. This is something we can never be worthy or deserving of. This is not a kind of “grace” that causes us to live in a licentious sinful living but the grace that gives us power to live VICTORIOUS over sin, over our self-sufficiencies, and over the works of Satan.
May we stand & live strong in this radical grace of God!
World changers, let's disturb and bless the world! Proclaim and demonstrate this radical grace in our homes, campuses, offices, churches and the online world!
