Love Compels

I am never compelled by my wallet (never :) ) to go on dates with my wife, but its my love for her that causes me to make a way

to go out with her…I’m simply compelled by love…”

This was one of the powerful illustrations my campus missionary buddy (bojo) told our young people in one of our latest youth worship services. It was never because of expectations or anything external. It was never a rule nor a duty but a delight! It was an inside-out drive that causes him to put his professed love to action. Love compels him!

In the same way, as we go out to live out lives that honor God and makes disciples, we have to check what drives us and causes us to do so. What makes us really “mad” about going all-out for this cause? Is it because the enemy is doing a lot of damage in this generation already??? Maybe a good reason. But shouldn’t we be more than reactionary? Something deeper must propel us, something more constant-we must be mad about this, driven, and be moved to action all because of the Father’s love and compassion that we ourselves have experienced and are still experiencing!

In short, we have to come to a point where we'll say  it’s never going to be “my love” nor “my compassion” for the lost and the next generation that would compel me to go all out and reach out to others but it’s all “HIS LOVE” and “HIS COMPASSION” being poured out in me, so strong that I cannot contain it  that it just overflows and flows from me towards the people around me! (in Filipino: bumubuhos, rumaragasa, umaapaw!!!)

Imagine yourself under a fresh, cool and mighty waterfall with outstretched arms-it just flows so powerfully, saturating you and it just overflows from your head to toe! SSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHH!!!

“For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

-2 Corinthians 5:14-15

“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.”

-Matthew 9:36

If you are someone who have experienced this love and compassion, if you are totally sold out for Jesus and are now overflowing in His love and compassion, you will continue to live a life that’s compelled to draw others to Him.

Be the good news!

Live out the gospel. Share the His story!

It will radically change their lives as it has changed you.

Truth is, we are still being changed by this good news!

This is why we stay strong in His Love.

Love must as it always does compels us!
